Deming Luna Mimbes Museum

The Deming Luna Mimbres Museum was volunteer-begun and has now been volunteer-run on a small budget surviving and flourishing for a full human generation. Older, active retired people living in Luna County with many different skills were vital to the creation of the museum. That pool of retirees continues to supply the museum with a stable, though ever-changing, roster of about 70 volunteers to keep things going.

The museum began life as an armory built in the early 1900's. Likely, neither the ex-armory nor the Pancho Villa-era custom house across the street would still be around now had not the museum taken over the 30,000 square feet of exhibit space.

Next is a 3-minute photo walk (a slideshow) showing some of the exhibits.
