In addition to homes, Fairacres boasts of a large, well-kept cemetery, an auction house, some mines, and a now disused water slide park. Fairacres has its own elementary school, and buses high school pupils to Las Cruces.
Large plots of farm land exist along the Rio Grande and photo opportunities abound. The area has one of the most flattering names in New Mexico.
