More about the Farm and Ranch Museum
The 1991 New Mexico Legislature formed a new division within the Office
of Cultural Affairs--the Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum.
The museum inventories historical farms and ranches within the state
and exhibits artifacts. Themes include a history of agriculture
in New Mexico, cultural adaptation to agriculture, and the science
of agriculture including genetic engineering.
The museum includes a restaurant featuring New Mexico foods and a gift
shop offering New Mexican agricultural products. Demonstrations include
blacksmithing, basket-weaving, tatting, and plowing with a mule.
The facility opened May 20, 1998 and is open seven days a week.
