Hatch

HATCH, in Dona Ana County, is at the junction of NM 185, 187, 26, and 154 about 33 miles northwest of Las Cruces. Hatch honors General Edward Hatch, once commander of Fort Thorn. In the 1890's, Hatch was a stop on the AT&SF railroad between Rincon and Deming. Today (1998) the old depot has been renovated and serves as the town's library.

In September Hatch sponsors a festival as the "Chili Capital of the World."
