High Lonesome, New Mexico
This panorama is a view from the north side of NM 70. Here the High Lonesome
site looks off to the Pecos River Valley--it's an example of the high plains
of New Mexico. The place name High Lonesome is found in 14 of
New Mexico's 33 counties. But this particular place, about 20 miles
northeast of Roswell, is truly high and truly lonesome. Only foundations
remain in 1998 of the trading post once located here. Now antenna farms
dot the plain.
