Lincoln's main street

Lincoln now (1999) is a village forgotten by time. Its only street is lined with adobe homes and building dating from the past. There are no gas stations or convenience stores and only one public telephone. It looks much like it did a century ago. Visitors see the Old Lincoln County Courthouse and walk in the footsteps of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. The Tunstall store, where the leader of one of the legendary Lincoln County War factions had his business, displays 19th century merchandise.
