About MY NAME IS NOBODY, a movie made in Mogollon
In 1972, You-Rent-It trucks began arriving in Mogollon, carting in heavy
loads of lumber, roof tins, and myriad types of movie gear. Two new large
buildings began to appear--a combination general store and blacksmith
shop and a long, low, rambling adobe with tin roof--constructed by teams
of carpenters. Talk in Mogollon was that Henry Fonda was to star in
a movie produced by Italian filmmakers. In about two weeks, the sets
were ready.
Then, on the first day of shooting, everything was sprayed with a mixture of
paint and kerosene to help set the mood--the two new buildings looked exactly
like vintage Mogollon properties. The full crew of about 300
people descended upon Mogollon to begin movie making. Movie trucks
choked the only road in Mogollon. Finally, the stars arrived and the Mogollon
parts of the script began to be put in the can.
