The Organ Mountains, near Las Cruces, New Mexico
The Organ Mountains are a north/south range about 10 miles east of Las
Cruces. There is the appearance or organ pipes among the 20 miles of
stark, vertical mountain peaks making up the range. The Organ Needle
is the highest at over 9,000 feet at the south end of the range.
The Organ Mountains Recreation Area is administered by the BLM
on much of the western side of the mountains, while most of the eastern
side is within the Fort Bliss Military Reservation.
On the western side, facing Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley is the
A. B. Cox Visitor Center at the end of Dripping Springs Road.
