Fort Selden

Headquarters, Fort Selden in the 1880's

The New Mexico frontier changed dramatically during MacArthur's tenure. By 1890, criminals and Apache raiding parties were no longer threats. Fort Selden, like other small forts, was decommissioned it in 1891.
