Frank H. Winston, 1856 to 1929, for whom Fairview changed to Winston

Frank H. Winston (1856 to 1929) moved from Grafton to Fairview in 1886 at the age of 30. After his death in 1930, in his honor, Fairview citizens voted to rename their community Winston.

In 1886, only 30 people lived in Fairview when Mr. Winston started his general merchandise store and became the postmaster. By 1906, he was also president of the Fairview Cattle Company and by 1915 he opened the Fairview garage. During the early 1900's, He also served as a New Mexico legislator.
