From the 1920's
SANTA CLARA (Saint Claire) is 2 miles south of Espanola on the
west side of the Rio Grande. It's an example of the early Franciscan
missions in New Mexico, 135 feet long, cruciform in shape and with an
entrance 8 feet wide and 10 feet long.
ZUNI ruins of the Zuni Mission at Zuni Pueblo, founded in 1699,
it was completed in 1705. Of all the Pueblo Indians, the Zuni tribe
has been affected the least by Christian influence. This historic building
is slowly moldering away.
