From the 1920's

LOS RANCHOS DE TAOS was built in 1772 of adobe, 108 feet long, with massive walls and two huge towers above the entrance. The patio in front is enclosed by adobe walls.

PECOS CHURCH ruins (as of 1920) along the Santa Fe Trail are of a Church that has been called the most historic mission in New Mexico. The Church was abandoned in 1805 after smallpox ravaged the town and survivors moved to Jemez--the sacred fire burned out, and Pecos was left to the mercy of the elements.
