From the 1920's

SAN DIEGO de JEMEZ ruins (as of 1920), founded early in the 17th century at Gyusiwa pueblo, at that time the principal Jemez village. The ruins stand (1920) half a mile north of Jemez Hot Springs--once a massive building with walls 8 feet thick.

SAN AUGUSTINE de ISLETA MISSION before remodeling. Legend is of the rising of Padre Padilla's coffin from under the Church to the surface once a year so all might gaze on the sainted padre.
