Some graves in the cemetery at Seven Rivers, 1988
Grave 1 - Occupant unknown
The coffin was of southern pine. Objects found with the well-
preserved skeleton were a collar button, a metal buckle, cuff
links set, some cloth, 25 square nails, and a fragment of cloth
from a covered button. These are remains of a male about 20 years
old, 5 feet tall, with a complete set of 32 teeth.
Grave 2 was thought to be the grave of John Beckwith
John Beckwith was shot in Pierce Canyon in 1879 by John Jones.
Beckwith was buried at Pierce Canyon. In 1961, Beckwith's marker
was at Paulleys Ranch in Malaga and a rancher planned to replace
it on Beckwith's grave in Pierce Canyon. At some time after 1961,
the stone was removed from Pierce Canyon and placed in the Seven
Rivers Cemetery. It was found there and photographed in 1986.
By January, 1988, portions of the stone has been removed from the
Seven Rivers Cemetery. Excavation found no remains at all in the
area of Grave 2.
